Fendalton Eye Clinic reaccredited — and commended

Wonderful news to share

Reaccredited — and Commended

DAA accreditation • NZS 8165 Rooms/Office-Based Surgery and Procedures Standard

Tēnā koutou katoa

Dr David Kent, Dr Zea Munro and the team at Fendalton Eye Clinic are delighted to share some wonderful news — we have once again achieved DAA accreditation for NZS 8165 Rooms/Office-Based Surgery and Procedures Standard, reaffirming our place as a centre of excellence in ophthalmic care.

Fendalton Eye Clinic remains one of only a handful of medical specialist centres in New Zealand to hold this accreditation, and being reaccredited three years on is an achievement our whole team is very proud of. What made this assessment particularly special was the assessors’ feedback. In their words:

“The organisation is commended for its commitment to quality and risk management and its ongoing focus on continuous quality improvement.

Quality activities were well embedded within the organisation and evidenced a strong commitment to monitoring performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and maintaining safe, high-quality patient care.”

Formal Commendation

Enhanced Informed Consent Process

The assessors recognised our patient centred consent pathway as one that genuinely supports understanding, shared decision making and patient safety at every step of the surgical journey — something we know matters deeply to our patients and referring colleagues.

Quality Improvement Initiatives highlighted in the report

  • Our customised refractive surgery nomograms, further improving the accuracy and predictability of laser vision correction outcomes
  • A comprehensive pre-surgery eye care preparation package, supporting patient understanding, ocular surface preparation and surgical outcomes
  • A streamlined incident reporting system, developed in response to staff feedback to support timely, consistent reporting
  • A tailored Reprocessing Staff Training Manual for our laser procedure room, for which the clinic was also commended

None of this happens by accident. It reflects the care and dedication our team brings to every patient, every day and the trust our patients and referring colleagues place in us.

Which brings us to the most important thank you of all. It is a real honour to share in the care of our patients, whether for laser vision correction, ICL, Kerarings, corneal cross-linking, refractive lens exchange or cataract surgery. We never take that trust for granted, and this accreditation is, above all, our promise of an ongoing commitment to care, safety and quality in everything we do.

We would love to hear from you, whether you have a question about the accreditation or our services. Phone us on 0800 37 39 37 (0800 DR EYES) or email info@lasik.co.nz.

Ngā mihi nui
